ECE 22.05 Helmet Certification
All Quin Design Helmets sold by Heady Helmets are ECE 22.05 Certified.
ECE 22.05 is the most widely respected and used regulation in the world and is endorsed and used by many countries outside Europe. Since the UK has left the EU the regulations for crash helmets has not changed.
In Europe, this qualification level serves as the entry permit for helmets. It's also the world's most adaptable helmet standard. Helmets that meet the ECE22.05 standard are required in more than 50 countries around the world. As a result, for a long time, the majority of riders have recognised ECE22.05 as a norm.
The ECE22.05 standard covers a wide range of qualification topics. It has stringent specifications not only for the protection of the helmet itself, but also for the accessories that go with it, masks, lenses and buckles for example. In addition ECE requires helmet manufacturers to buy test equipment that meets their specifications, but the entire set of this equipment is typically prohibitively expensive for small workshops. As a result, it acts as a kind of entry barrier, and some small workshops are unable to meet the standard.
